At APM, we follow S-500 industry standards for water damage restoration. Our state-of-the-art equipment is used to dry and treat water-damaged structures and treat subsequent mold or bacteria growth.

What Causes water damage?

  • Faulty / damaged plumbing
  • Frozen water pipes
  • Defective appliances or fixtures
  • Accidents / negligence
  • Acts of God: floods, storms, etc
  • Willful misconduct and vandalism
  • Fire-control & high-humidity conditions

Water types and treatment

  1. Clear Water: related to tub / sink overflows, results in little damage
  2. Grey Water: related to dishwashers and other appliances that use chemicals, must be treated within 36 hours
  3. Black Water: sea water, river water, sewage; this water is pathogenic and damaged structures must be demolished and rebuilt





















 
fungus & bacteria
Water damage is associated with the growth of fungus such as Mesophilic, Xerotolerant and Xerophilic. Sewage can contain the following bacteria: E-Coli, Rotavirus, Hepatitis A & B, Pseudomonas, viruses and parasites. If the water damage involves sewage, we will consult our Industrial Hygienist who will conduct site tests and write the protocol that our technicians will follow.
